HOLLAND, Mich. — The Albion men's lacrosse team lost to Hope, 22-9, in Holland.
The Flying Dutch stormed out the gate and fired the first five scores in the back of the net. The Britons got their first goal on a man-up opportunity from
Joey Pipesh, but Hope notched another less than 30 seconds later.
Cal Stearns closed the gap to four with a score off the faceoff five seconds later, but the Flying Dutch squashed any momentum and notched four consecutive goals.
TJ Antonino added the period's final score to make it 10-3 at the end of the quarter.
Hope continued their push with five goals in the second. The Britons notched two of their own in the stanza from
Carson Farkas on a man-up opportunity and another from Stearns but found themselves facing a 15-5 deficit heading into the locker room.
The Flying Dutch posted three more scores in the third, while Farkas and
Logan Mozingo found twine for Albion as it was 18-7 at the end of the period.
Farkas and Stearns recorded goals in the final stanza.
It was a shot-heavy game, as both teams combined for 99 total. Albion committed 28 turnovers, while Farkas notched a hat trick offensively.
Luke Szymanski saved 14 shots in net as well.
