Softball Falls Twice Against Hope

ALBION, Mich. — The Albion softball team lost both games to Hope, 2-0 and 8-1.

Game 1
It was a pitcher's duel in the first game with only a combined seven hits.

The Flying Dutch's Hailey Mellec went all seven frames allowing three hits, three walks and 10 strikeouts, while Lilly Zaskowski also threw every inning with four hits, the two runs, no walks and five punchouts.

Hope got both of their runs in the fifth on a fielder's choice and a caught stealing play.
Albion could not get any runners in scoring position, while the Flying Dutch had just two runners in scoring position outside of the fifth.

Allie Trantham, Cameron McDonald and Elaina Braunscheidel were the three Britons who notched hits.

Game 2
Hope jumped on top of the Britons in the first with two runs on a double and single. Albion closed the gap to one in the third as they plated a score on a Jessie Anstandig RBI single.

The momentum was short lived, as the Flying Dutch scored two more in the third on an error and sacrifice fly to make it 4-1.

Hope tacked on another in the fourth on a groundout and added their final three on a two-run double and a single in the sixth.

Braunscheidel tallied two of Albion's six hits, while Jaden Henderson went the first three innings in the circle. Alaina Brown finished up the final three frames pitching as well.
