OLIVET, Mich. — The Albion softball team dominated Olivet in a sweep, 11-1 and 3-2.
Game 1
The Britons wasted no time getting on the board, as Lilly Zaskowski opened the scoring with a three-run home run. A single from Ryley Frank helped extend the inning, with Albion building an early 4-0 lead.
Olivet responded in the fourth with a run to cut the deficit to 4-1, but Albion quickly regained control.
The Britons broke the game open in the fifth inning, plating seven runs to secure an 11-1 run-rule victory.
Zaskowski led the way for Albion both at the plate and in the circle. She drove in three runs, all on the homer, and pitched a complete five-inning game, recording six strikeouts while allowing two runs.
Game 2
Albion continued to build on its momentum as they defeated the Comets, 3-2, in the second portion of the doubleheader.
The Comets got out to an early lead, plating a run at the top of the third to open the scoring.
This lead did not last long, as the Britons stormed back with three runs of their own, blowing the game wide open and taking a 3-1 advantage. Zaskowski's home run at the beginning of the inning seemed to be the difference maker in getting the bats rolling.
Solid pitching by Zaskowski in the bottom half of the game kept Olivet off the scoresheet until the seventh inning, where they narrowed the lead to 3-2.
A late surge from the Comets proved not to be enough as the Britons held off for the road sweep.
