Albion, Mich. - The Britons come up just short to drop their season opener 1-2 vs. Spring Arbor.
The Britons struck first with a goal by
Xavier Yuille after a break away pass from
Esteban Mercado. The Cougars respond with a goal of their own to knot the game at 1-1 with just five minutes left to play in the first half.
Both teams were evenly matched as we saw seven shot attempts and four saves by each team. Things began to get heated as three yellow cards were issued in the last 10 minutes of the opening half.
The battle that was the end of the first half continued for the remainder of the game. Seven more cards were issued in the second half before Spring Arbor was able to sneak the ball into the top of the net to take the lead 2-1 in the 82nd minute. Another yellow card would be given in the final 90 seconds of the game and despite Albion's efforts, they came up just short in the end.
The Britons look to bounce as the travel to Franklin on Friday September 4th to take on the Grizzlies at 5 PM.
