Biography

2019: The starter at free safety in all 10 games...Finished second on the team with 60 tackles...Tied for the team lead with 10 passes broken up...Collected his first interception of the season and wrapped up five tackles at Franklin (Ind.)...Picked off a pass in the Britons victory at Kalamazoo.

2018: Finished fifth on the team with 58 tackles...Stopped Alma's first possession with an interception and collected a season-high nine tackles in the game...Set up an Albion touchdown with a 28-yard interception return at Adrian.

2017: Finished the season with 38 tackles (23 solo, 15 assists)...Collected his first career interception in the Homecoming victory over Alma...Added two interceptions in the win at Wisconsin Lutheran, returning one 71 yards for a touchdown. 

Prior to Albion: A three-year football all-conference award winner and honorable mention all-state (2017) performer at Eaton Rapids who was a member of two squads capturing championship...A three-year basketball letterwinner and member of a district champion team...Achieved honorable mention all-conference status in baseball in 2017.

Personal: An economics and management major who is a member of Albion's Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management...Minoring in communication studies...His uncle, Tony Nichols, played basketball for the Britons...Son of Dave and Pam Shafer.
