James Bloomfield is in his first season as safeties coach in 2025 and second overall at Albion.

In 2024, Bloomfield joined the staff as assistant wide receivers coach where he helped mentor Dilon Denison to second-team All-MIAA honors as he collected 41 receptions for 527 yards and seven touchdowns.

Bloomfield was a four-year letterwinner for the Britons from 2020-23 as a running back and safety. As a senior in 2023, he was elected team captain and was named second-team All-MIAA as a kick returner after averaging 29.4 yards per return while also being on Albion's team Leadership Council.

An excellent student who graduated with a 3.92 GPA, Bloomfield became just the 16th Academic All-American in program history and first since 2016 during his senior year as he was named to the second team of the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-America squad.

An active member of the campus community, Bloomfield served as a tour guide in Albion's admissions office earning tour guide captain status and Freshman Tour Guide of the Year honors. He also was the football team's representative on Albion's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

The Jackson, Mich. native earned a bachelor's degree in social studies with a concentration in secondary education from Albion in 2024. He also graduated from Parma Western High School in 2020, garnering all-conference and all-region honors in football.

Currently, Bloomfield is a history teacher at Marshall Middle School in nearby Marshall, Mich.
