Box Score OLIVET, Mich. – Kyle Alsheskie (Wixom/Walled Lake Western) struck for two goals in the first 11 minutes, and Michael Tolkacz (Novi/Detroit Catholic Central) added his first career goal with less than five minutes remaining in the first half as Albion College stunned Olivet College, 3-1, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer action.
With a 3-6 record against league rivals, Albion is tied for fifth in the MIAA standings. Olivet entered the day in second place and it may slip to fourth depending on the result of the 7 p.m. contest between Calvin College and Hope College.
Alsheskie's first goal was a header nearly five minutes into the match. Tom Dickmann (Battle Creek/Lakeview) sent a pass that Alsheskie put into the goal. Jimmy Nieman (Rochester Hills/Rochester)dished out the assist on Alsheskie's second goal.
Olivet trimmed the margin to 2-1 on Corey Shean's goal in the 15th minute.
Tolkacz put an unassisted goal on the board with 4 ½ minutes left in the first half.
Albion finished the day with a 12-7 advantage in shots. Alsheskie peppered the goal with four shots. Dickmann and Evan Malecke (South Lyon/Detroit Catholic Central) were credited with two shots apiece.
Albion continues MIAA play on the road Wednesday when it travels to Adrian College for a 7 p.m. contest.
