ADRIAN, Mich. – Nasty weather limited scoring chances Wednesday night. Charlie Micunek (Granger, Ind./Penn), one of the tallest players on the Albion College side, got his head on Caio Orofino's (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) corner kick in the 71st minute to lift the Britons to a 1-0 victory over Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer action.

It was Micunek's first collegiate goal, and Orofino's first collegiate assist. The corner kick appeared to get caught in the wind and it kept rising until it reached Micunek in the middle of the box.

"I thought we battled really well," Albion Coach Jerry Block said. "We missed a penalty kick in the first half and they could have put their heads down. We keep getting better and better and this has become a fun team to watch."

Albion came away empty on two first half scoring chances as Eric Clark's (Bridgman) blast hit the post and Denny O'Dowd's (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan) penalty kick to the low left corner of the goal was stopped by Adrian goalkeeper Zach Zeka.

Zeka stopped shots by Tom Dickmann (Battle Creek/Lakeview) and Destin Simon (West Bloomfield) in a seven-minute span of the second half.

Albion goalkeeper Brian Greathouse (Dearborn), a nominee for Capital One Academic All-America honors selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, made two second half saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season.

Albion (7-7-1 overall, 4-6 MIAA) will go in search of its third win in a row at 2:30 p.m. Saturday when it tackles Kalamazoo College at Alumni Field.
