Box Score The Albion College men's soccer team got its first win of the young Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association season by defeating the Adrian College, 2-0, in front of a large Homecoming crowd gathered at Alumni Field.
Jimmy Nieman (Rochester Hills/Rochester) got the Britons on the board 15 minutes into the game as he headed in a cross from Kurt Miller (Ann Arbor/Dexter).
Less than five minutes later, Nieman struck again for the Britons as he headed in another cross, this time from Kyle Alsheskie (Wixom/Walled Lake Western). The Britons continued to carry the majority of play for the rest of the first half.
The second half proved to be somewhat of a stalemate and neither team was able to break down the defenses. Few chances were created and much of the play stayed within the midfield.
Goalkeeper Brian Greathouse (Dearborn/Dearborn) anchored the Britons with his fourth shutout in eight games. Greathouse was rarely tested throughout the game but came up with his biggest save in the 88th minute keeping the game at 2-0.
The Britons hope to build some momentum with this win as they continue their MIAA season against Kalamazoo College Tuesday, Sept. 27. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
