Box Score ALBION – Denny O'Dowd, a senior playing in his final college match, scored with 17 ½ minutes left in regulation to lift Albion College to a 2-1 victory over Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer action.
Albion dominated the possession – it finished with a 23-9 edge in shots – but Adrian goalkeeper Niko Giantsopoulos stopped six shots.
"What a fantastic way for Denny to end his career," Albion coach Jerry Block said. "We kept battling, kept playing hard. I couldn't be more pleased.
"We knew Adrian would sit back defensively and play opportunities to counter attack," Block added. "Everything went our way today."
Antonio Pacifico staked Albion to the early lead when he buried a crossing pass from Matt Woster in the 15th minute. Charles Micunek passed the ball to Woster to also gain an assist on the play.
Pacifico and Woster were active all day as each fired three shots. Kyle Alsheskie, who dished out the assist on the winning goal, also placed three shots.
Travis Smith scored in the 27th minute as Adrian sent the match to halftime tied at 1.
