Box Score ALBION, Mich. – Albion College was a point away from pushing Kalamazoo College to a fifth set in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball action inside Kresge Gymnasium Friday night. Kalamazoo rallied to win six consecutive points to complete a 25-20, 25-22, 17-25, 26-24 victory.
Albion sprinted out to 8-1 leads in the first two sets only to have Kalamazoo rally. Nya Greenstone terminated four consecutive points as Kalamazoo surged to a 11-9 lead in the first.
Albion was up 13-4 in the second, but a couple of errors and two kills by Kelsey Hill trimmed the margin to 13-8. Kalamazoo forged a 22-20 lead when Allison Liddane served an ace and Albion hit into a Kalamazoo block.
Paxton Mueller served on a long run as Albion built a 14-7 lead in the third. Caitlin McClorey terminated a point and Kalamazoo had a hitting error as the Britons extended the margin to 19-10.
Albion trailed 8-5 in the fourth, but Kalamazoo committed errors on consecutive points as the margin whittled to a single point. A Kalamazoo serve error and a Haley Gitre ace put Albion in front, 20-16. Jalyn Ingalls pushed Albion to set point with a kill, but errors on consecutive points cut Albion's lead to 24-22. Greenstone tied the score at 24 with a pair of kills and the Hornets took the lead on an Albion attack error.
Albion turned in a team effort as Lauren DeLuyck, Ingalls, McClorey, and Halle Thom all finished with nine kills. McClorey knocked down three solo blocks, and Ingalls added two solo and one block assist.
