Britons Stopped In Four Sets

ALBION – Albion College forced Alma College to play a fourth set in Wednesday Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball action. Alma responded by hitting .650 in the fourth set to end the Britons' comeback effort. Alma won the contest by scores of 25-14, 25-19, 19-25, 25-15.

Rebecca Trosper produced five of her nine kills and she served an ace that pushed Alma to a 4-2 lead in the fourth set. Two Albion service errors and two more attack errors extended Alma's margin to 8-4.

Albion hit .229 and Alma had 11 kills and 11 errors in the third set. The Britons spotted Alma the first point, but Lauren DeLuyck produced two kills and the Scots hit two errors. Albion's lead ballooned to 8-2 on a Jalyn Ingalls kill and two more Alma hitting errors. Alma went on a run to cut the Briton lead to 9-6, but Caitlin McClorey and Halle Thom knocked down kills and Alma had attack errors on three consecutive points to send the Britons to a 14-7 lead.

Thom produced 10 of Albion's 24 kills and she added a block assist. Ingalls added six kills and three solo blocks.

Kayla Muxlow led Alma with 13 kills, three solo blocks, an assisted block, and a service ace.

Albion will take a break from league play this weekend as it travels to Columbus, Ohio, for a tournament at Capital University.
