Box Score ANGOLA, Ind. – Albion College reeled off three consecutive points late in the second set, but Trine University was able to secure the set point and it went on to sweep the Britons in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association match.
Albion crept within a point at 24-23 in the second on a service error, an attack error and a kill by Halle Thom. Trine went to Betsy Irwin for one of her nine kills to end the set and it scored the first three points of the third set.
Despite spotting the 3-0 lead to Trine in the third, Jalyn Ingalls and Caitlin McClorey produced kills to pull the Britons within a point. Thom's block made the score 5-4, but Trine scored seven of the next nine points to build a 12-6 lead.
Ingalls led the Britons with seven kills, two block assists, and an ace. McClorey finished with six kills and three blocks.
Albion completes the first week of league play at 11 a.m. Saturday with a home match against Saint Mary's College.
