Britons Fall To MIAA Rival

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College has improved its talent, but it still couldn't afford to get in a shootout with Hope College.

Michael Reitmyer and Mike Tolkacz scored to give the Britons a first-half lead, but Jason Muller scored three times to lift Hope to a 6-3 victory in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer contest.

After playing to a 2-2 draw in the first half, the Flying Dutchmen took control with goals by Logan Sikkenga, Muller and David Porte in the first 22 minutes of the second half.

Albion never surrendered, however, and John Rogers finished a Kurt Miller corner kick to trim the deficit to 5-3 with eight minutes remaining.

Josh Hagene extinguished Albion's comeback hopes with his fourth goal of the season with less than seven minutes to play.

Albon finished with a 16-9 edge in shots, and an 11-6 margin in shots on goal. Kyle Alsheskie and Tolkacz were credited with three shots on goal apiece.

Albion will play at home again Wednesday when it takes on Kalamazoo College. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Alumni Field.
