Attackers Lack Enough Opportunities

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion attackers Dan Genord, Joel Hedemark and Jamie Kehoe were productive Monday night, but they didn't get the ball enough. Albion was successful on 55 percent (11 of 20) clear attempts in a 14-12 loss to Otterbein University in a non-league contest at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

Albion trailed 4-1 midway through in the first quarter, but Hedemark scored twice and Kehoe tallied an unassisted goal as the Britons forged a tie at 4-4. Genord scored an extra-man goal as Albion tied the score at 7-7 midway through the second quarter, but that's when Otterbein turned up pressure on its ride.

Otterbein scored the next seven goals to surge to a 14-7 lead. Andrew Donatelli tacked on a pair of goals in the third quarter and Pat Teynor scored twice during the rally. Donatelli led the Cardinals with four goals and an assist.

Albion finished with a binge of goals as Dylan Neal, Kehoe, Genord, and Hedemark scored in the fourth quarter.

"We put ourselves in a tough situation when we couldn't clear," Albion Coach Jake DeCola said. "We had some man-down clears we didn't convert."

Kehoe finished with four goals and an assist. Genord and Hedemark chipped in with three goals and two assists apiece.

Albion returns to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action with a 4 p.m. Wednesday home contest against Calvin College.
