MANCHESTER, Ind. – Stephanie Thurner knocked down 11 kills and a block to lead Albion College to its first victory of the season, a 25-19, 25-19, 25-23 sweep of Wilmington (Ohio) College.

The Britons had to settle for a split of its matches on the opening day of the Manchester (Ind.) University Invitational. The host Spartans handed the Britons a 25-20, 25-18, 25-10 loss in the first set of matches during the day.

Thurner reached double figures in kills for the second time this season. She hit .333 with three errors in 24 attacks. Thurner received offensive support from Jessica Konieczny and Rachel Spencer who finished with five kills apiece. Setter Ami Milligan knocked down three kills, assisted on three blocks and dished out 23 assists.

Albion is scheduled to play Saturday matches against Ohio Wesleyan University and Denison University.
