Britons Build Momentum As MIAA Play Nears

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College will seek to build on the momentum it gained from a 3-2 upset of 20th-ranked Ohio Northern University at Alumni Field Saturday afternoon.

"We've been playing well as a team the last couple games," Albion Coach Jerry Block said, referring to a 1-0 setback to Elmhurst (Ill.) College on Thursday. "It is nice to get rewarded for how well we're playing.

"We were very good on the ball. It was a good team win," Block said.

Albion surrendered the first goal to David Janusz in the 10th minute, but Mike Tolkacz supplied the equalizer in the 18th minute and Kyle Alsheskie produced his third and fourth goals of the season. Briton goalkeeper Andrew Bobowski made the lead hold up with 10 saves.

Albion, which posted a 2-3 record against non-league rivals, has a Wednesday home date with Olivet College on the opening day of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action. Kickoff is set for 4 o'clock at Alumni Field.

"With the start of the conference season, the games will get more intense, heated and passionate," Block said. "I told the guys the season is a process for us and we have to keep getting better every day."
