First-Year Players Take Their Shots

ALBION, Mich. – Calvin College dominated possession in the first half and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leading and Division III fourth-ranked Knights walked off Alumni Field with a 4-0 victory over Albion College.

Albion kicked off to start the match and first-year midfielder Joey Zaremski placed a shot right of the goal. The Britons would get three more shots in the period as Shawn Roberts had an attempt blocked, Kyle Bourlier sent a shot high, and Will Colborn had his shot stopped by Calvin goalkeeper Niko Giantsopoulos.

Calvin got goals by Isky Van doorne, Sam Hanover and Micah Beard in the first half. Jacob Witte tacked on the final goal with a minute remaining in regulation.

Colborn was credited with another shot for Albion in the second half and Jason Inglis had a pair of attempts.

Albion plays at home again Saturday against Adrian College. Kickoff is set for noon at Alumni Field.
