KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Derek Bosko, Gerardo Huidobro and Nate Kozycki scored first place points in multiple events and Henry Swett achieved a regional qualifying score in 3-meter diving as 23rd-ranked Albion College earned a 201-99 victory over Kalamazoo College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's swimming & diving dual meet.
Albion finished first in 14 of the 16 events, but that did not indicate the quality of the racing.
"It was a good day of racing for both teams," Albion Head Coach Jake Taber said. "The scores of the meets don't accurately reflect the quality of racing today."
Albion controlled the outcome of the team score from the outset, with Sebastian Tostado, Huidobro, Kozycki and Bosko achieving a time of 1:36.23 in the 200-yard medley relay and Blake Blair and Lucas Harder finished one-two in the 1,000 freestyle.
Bosko went on to win the sprint freestyle events with times of 22.01 seconds in the 50 and 47.57 in the 100 and he joined Parker Belmore, Nick Deppner and Tom Parsons in winning the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.82).
Huidobro secured first place in the 200 butterfly (1:59.53), 500 free (4:57.48) and 200 individual medley (1:59.87).
Kozycki led Albion to a sweep of the top three places in the 100 backstroke. Kozycki finished in 54.88 seconds, followed by Belmore and Nick Burris. Kozycki completed the 100 butterfly in 51.41 seconds.
Swett achieved a score of 270.80 in 3-meter diving to win the event by nearly 20 points over teammate Jake Burris. Burris won the 1-meter with a score of 292.85 with Swett as runner-up.
Also finishing first for the Britons were Tostado in the 200 backstroke (1:58.35) and Lucas Harder in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.28).
Albion will complete the first half of the season Dec. 4-5 by swimming in the Carthage Invitational.
