Box Score ALMA, Mich. – First-year outside hitter Taylor Rosenthal picked up five of her team-high 11 kills in the fourth set as Albion College tried to extend its volleyball match against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Alma College.
Alma was able to hold off the Britons by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 27-25.
Stephanie Thurner and Jessica Konieczny put up a block as Albion forged a tie at 25 in the fourth set. Hannah Guilford knocked down kills on the last two points to lift Alma to the victory.
Alma appeared to be on its way to victory in three sets, leading 24-20 in the third. Albion forged a tie at 24 as Konieczny scored a kill and Alma committed hitting errors on three consecutive points. A ball handling error and another attack error gave Albion the set.
Halle Thom finished with a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs for Albion. Thurner produced eight kills and three block assists.
Guilford led all players with 16 kills, 22 digs and three service aces.
Albion will take a break from league play this weekend when it travels to Ohio, to compete in an invitational at the College of Wooster.
