First-Year Riders Make Impressive Debut

The Briton hunt seat team put in a solid performance during the opening meet of the 2016-17 school year. Western Michigan University hosted the riders from Zone 6 Region 4 on Oct. 9 in a competition that saw Albion finish fourth of the 12 teams present.

First year riders Jordan Marmul, Sydney Rudowski, and Jessica Imel made strong showings in their Intercollegiate Horse Show Association debut, earning second place finishes across the board in open flat, novice over fences, and advanced walk/trot/canter, respectively.

Not to be outdone, senior team captain Cayla Dupuis snagged a third in open flat while her co-captain, junior Megan Reilly came second in her section of intermediate flat. The third place finish of senior Madeline Beattie in novice flat helped boost the team's overall score.

The Britons' next contest is a doubleheader at Grand Valley State University this weekend.
