ALBION, Mich. -- The Albion College hunt seat equestrian team turned in a strong performance over the weekend, highlighted by a team win and multiple regional qualifications.
On Saturday, the Britons claimed High Point Team honors behind standout rides from senior
Phoebe Martin, who swept both the Open Fences and Open Flat divisions to earn High Point Rider of the day.
Victoria Panasuik added wins in Intermediate Fences and Intermediate Flat, earning Reserve High Point Rider recognition.
Albion riders took home several blue ribbons on day one, including
Aine Carey (Limit Fences),
Victoria Panasuik (Intermediate Fences and Flat), and Melany Duenas-Lopez (Pre-Novice). Additional top finishes came from
Simone Taylor (2nd, Limit Flat),
Lucia Scouten (3rd, Limit Flat),
Anna Harvey (2nd, Novice), Annalore Bosier (6th, Novice), and
Althea Schalow (2nd, Intro).
The team's success also secured regional qualifications for
Simone Taylor and Melany Duenas-Lopez.
On Sunday, the Britons continued to roll as Reserve High Point Team. Martin placed second in Open Fences and fourth on the Flat, while Panasuik added third- and fifth-place finishes in Intermediate competition.
Anna Harvey led the way with a first-place ride in Novice, followed by Annalore Bosier in second and Duenas-Lopez in third.
Aine Carey and
Maggie Sorrelle each placed second in their respective Limit classes, and
Katie Woerner rounded out the day with a fourth-place ride in Intermediate Flat.
The weekend also marked another milestone, as Woerner qualified for regionals, joining Taylor and Duenas-Lopez.
