Juliana Gullo has been named hunt seat head coach of the Albion equestrian team. Her first day is scheduled for July 6.
Gullo comes to Albion after riding for two years at South Dakota State. As a senior during the 2025-26 season, Gullo was named to the ECAC all-conference team in both fences and flat events. During her junior season, she led the fences team in victories with eight and earned ECAC Fences Rider of the Month honors in November 2024. Additionally, she was named an ECAC honorable mention All-Academic selection for the Jackrabbits.
Prior to SDSU, Gullo rode for two seasons at the University of Minnesota-Crookston where she was a team captain and 2022-23 ECAC Freshman of the Year in fences. Following a transition in the hunt seat coaching staff, Gullo stepped into an expanded leadership role by helping guide practices and maintaining structure within the program.
"We are thrilled to welcome Juliana to Albion," director of athletics,
Jennifer Rushton, said. "She had an outstanding career as a student-athlete and took on leadership roles that allowed her to gain experience in teaching. I am excited for Juliana's vision for our hunt seat program and look forward to her leading our team into the future."
As a junior rider, Gullo trained out of Perfecta Farm in Streamwood, Ill., while riding in top equitation divisions — including the Dover and Maclay Final qualifier which she competed in five times. Additionally, she achieved the IHJA Reserve Year-End Champion Amateur Owner Hunter award in 2023 and taught lessons of varying skill levels at Perfecta Farm for five years.
The Itasca, Ill., native graduated from South Dakota State in 2026 with a degree in business economics and an entrepreneurial studies minor. She also earned an associate's degree from Minnesota-Crookston in 2024 and attended Lake Park High School west of Chicago.
"I'm excited to join the equestrian program at Albion," Gullo said. "Equestrian has been a major part of my life, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue my involvement in the sport. I'm eager to contribute to a culture of hard work and growth while supporting the team both in and out of the ring. I'm looking forward to getting started and becoming part of the Albion community."
