MURRAY, Ky. — The Albion western equestrian team took second at the IHSA Semifinals in a two-day meet from March 21-22, hosted by Murray State.
With their placement, the Britons earned a spot at IHSA Nationals from May 1-3.
On the first day,
Madison Weedon was the reserve champion in Level II ranch riding and open horsemanship to qualify for nationals individually.
Alyssa McPherson also won the reserve crown in rookie horsemanship, while
Rose Stanton earned fourth in beginner horsemanship. Both earned trips to nationals individually as well.
Divis was the reserve champion in team open reigning on the second day of competition. McPherson also was the winner in team Level I horsemanship, while Weedon was the reserve champion in team open horsemanship. Other notable performances included
Jennah Skiba (3rd in team rookie horsemanship),
Lily Jurvelin (4th in team beginner horsemanship) and
Avery Vick (team Level II horsemanship).
Additionally, Albion's own horse — Lucas — was awarded best horse of the show.
