TRYON, N.C. — Members of the Albion western and hunt seat equestrian teams competed at IHSA Nationals from May 1-3 in Tryon, N.C., located on the North Carolina/South Carolina border.
The western team was seventh overall in the team competition. Two Britons were crowned individual champions —
Alyssa McPherson in Level I Team Horsemanship and
Dixie McKibbin as a reserve champion in Rookie Team Horsemanship. McPherson became the first rider in program history to win a team class at the national show.
Additionally, hunt seat's
Victoria Panasiuk was crowned a national champion in the intermediate equitation over fences.
On the western side,
Madison Weedon earned a fourth-place finish in Team Open Horsemanship. Additionally, she was third in Ranch Riding and sixth in Open Horsemanship.
Lily Jurvelin earned eighth in Team Beginner Horsemanship, while
Stellamia Aerts was 10th in Team Ranch Riding.
Avery Vick placed 11th in Level II Team Horsemanship, and
Anna Divis notched 11th in Team Reining.
Alyssa McPherson was third in Rookie Horsemanship, and
Rose Stanton notched 10th in Beginner Horsemanship.
Hunt seat's
Phoebe Martin also competed in Open Flat and the Cacchione Cup.
