Box Score ALBION, Mich. – With four players scoring in double figures, Albion College eased to a 75-51 victory over Saint Mary's College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action at Kresge Gymnasium.
Albion held Saint Mary's scoreless for the first 7 ½ minutes as it jumped out to a 14-0 lead. The Britons maintained the double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Turnovers were part of the story as Albion cashed in for 22 points off 25 Saint Mary's miscues.
"Everybody contributed- it was good effort by everybody," Albion Head Coach Doreen Carden said. "Our defense created a lot of offense for us."
Darian Payne, one of two seniors playing in her final game at the collegiate level, and Jay Bard, a first-year student-athlete, finished with 14 points apiece for Albion. Erin Nelson chipped in with 11 and Emily Zgoda had 10.
Nelson and Payne pulled down eight rebounds apiece.
Payne, who averaged a double-double of 13 ½ points and 11 rebounds per game during the season, closed her career with 952 points and 752 rebounds.
Krista Knapke and Eleni Shea produced 12 points apiece for Saint Mary's.
