'Inconsistent' Britons Fall In Men's Tennis

ALBION, Mich. – Coach Tim Dunford said inconsistent play hampered his Albion College team in a 7-2 loss to Elmhurst College in a non-league men's tennis match played inside the Ungrodt Tennis Center.

Ross Kynast and Zach McKenzie produced an 8-6 win at the top of the doubles lineup, but the Britons could have had a lead at the conclusion of doubles if the No. 2 team of Patrick Barclay and Peter Pappas been able to pull out its match. Instead, Albion lost the match 9-7 and fell behind, 2-1, after doubles.

Robert Joerg picked up Albion's singles point, winning the No. 5 match 6-4, 6-3.

Playing No. 3 singles, McKenzie extended his opponent to three sets.

Albion's next contest is a March 2 home match against local rival Spring Arbor University.
