WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Albion College completed 9-of-16 clearing opportunities and committed 19 turnovers and those wasted possessions proved too much to overcome in a 16-13 loss to Otterbein University in non-league men's lacrosse action.
Charlie Hermes, Cameron Braun, Zach Kinney and Zach Hubbell scored as Albion erased an early 3-0 deficit to forge a 4-4 tie a minute and a half into the second quarter.
Otterbein answered with three man advantage goals in a minute as Joe Sanfillipo dished out the assists on scores by Marcus Wills, Connor Dziewit, and Connor Baak. Willis tacked on another goal as the Cardinals owned an 8-4 lead with six minutes left in the second quarter.
Although Albion trimmed the deficit to two on three occasions, Otterbein always repelled the Briton rallies.
Braun led the Albion attack with three goals and an assist. David DiRado, Hubbell, and Brandon Lebioda finished with two goals apiece. Dylan Neal chipped in with a goal and four assists.
Five players supplied Otterbein's goals. Baak finished with five, Robbie Guiliano produced four and Dziewit and Willis had three apiece.
Albion will play its next two contests at home, starting with a March 19 date against Aurora University.
