GREENSBORO, N.C. - Albion College did not score on the opening day of competition in the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.
Sebastian Tostado was first to compete in the morning preliminaries, setting a time of 1:52.65 to place 31st out of 45 entered in the 200-yard individual medley.
Derek Bosko was next, swimming in the 50-yard freestyle. He completed the first half of the race in 9.92 seconds, a time that was on par with the swimmers who qualified for the evening race. He did not keep that pace – finishing the second half in 10.77 – for a final time of 20.69 that placed him 26th in the field of 49.
Tostado, Lucas Harder, Nate Kozycki and Bosko finished the 200-yard medley relay in 1:32.76, a time that was 20th-fastest in the preliminaries.
First-year athletes Henry Swett and Jake Burris finished 19th and 24th, respectively, in the 3-meter diving preliminaries.
Albion has opportunities to score Thursday as Kozycki swims in the men's 100-yard butterfly, Anna Moore makes her NCAA Championships debut in the women's 100-yard butterfly and the Britons have teams in the men's 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relays.
