ANGOLA, Ind. – Zach Hubbell scored a man-advantage goal with five minutes remaining to lift Albion College to a 9-8 victory over Trine University.
Albion, winners of nine in a row, improved to 5-0 against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals. The Britons have a Tuesday night game at Hope College and a Friday night home game against Olivet College in the final week of the regular season.
"Trine was really tough and well prepared," Albion Head Coach Jake DeCola said. "They did a great job of slowing down our offense. I think the box score does not really reflect how close the game was because Trine made some great effort plays."
"I give a lot of credit to their seniors," DeCola added. "They were tough and made the most of all their chances."
The teams traded goals all day. Dylan Neal, who produced two goals and two assists, scored an unassisted goal as Albion forged a 8-8 tie with 13:19 left in the fourth quarter.
John Cooke and Paul Lewis also collected two goals for the Britons.
Kyle DeCamp won 14 of 19 face-offs, but Albion was not always able to take advantage with 18 turnovers.
Goalkeeper Brad Bogus collected 14 saves.
"Brad made the difference today," DeCola said. "He buckled down late in the game and closed the door on Trine, holding them scoreless for the last 14 minutes."
