ANGOLA, Ind. – Albion College completed a 2-0 week against its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals as it took down Trine University in three sets (25-23, 25-23, 25-19) Saturday afternoon.

Taylor Rosenthal, Lauren Outwater and Stephanie Thurner all produced at least 10 kills and Ami Milligan dished out 42 assists, leaving her 13 shy of Albion's career record.

"It was a great team win for us," Albion Head Coach Kristin de St. Aubin said. "Our defense kept them from getting into an offensive rhythm and our ability to run a very threatening, balanced offense put a lot of pressure on them."

Kelsey Gustafson terminated a couple of points to help Albion rally from a 21-16 deficit in the first set. Outwater terminated the last two points to give Albion the early lead.

Kills by Rosenthal and Outwater sparked a four-point run as Albion surged to an 18-14 lead in the second set. Kaitlyn Gilchrist terminated a couple of points as Albion extended a 21-19 lead to 23-19 and Rosenthal and Outwater combined for the block on the final point.

"We had to battle back in two of the three sets and do our jobs when it counted," de St. Aubin said. "Hats off to our serve-receive passers who helped us battle back."

With Rachel Zawodny serving, Albion scored the first eight points of the third set, and it maintained a four-point cushion the rest of the way.

Albion finished hitting .174 with 49 kills and 23 errors in 149 attacks. Rosenthal hit .308 (12-4-26) and Outwater completed her second double-double of the week and fifth of the season with 11 kills and 18 digs.

Albion, winners of four straight to improve to 8-6 overall and 2-4 against MIAA rivals, continues league play with a Wednesday night home match against Saint Mary's College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Kresge Gymnasium.
