Joerg, Trevino lead men's tennis rally

ALBION, Mich. – Robert Joerg and Israel Trevino won their singles matches in three sets as Albion College rallied for a 5-4 victory over Olivet College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's tennis match played inside the Ungrodt Tennis Center.

Joerg and Trevino gave Albion a chance to rally in singles with an 8-6 win in the No. 2 doubles match.

Even with the point from Joerg and Trevino, Albion trailed, 2-1, after the doubles matches.

Albion's rally started with straight sets wins by Josh McGarry (6-3, 6-4) at No. 1 singles and Nick Kinachtchouk (6-1, 6-1) at No. 4 singles.

Then came the singles wins by Joerg and Trevino. Joerg, playing No. 2 singles, shook off a loss in the tiebreaker to decide the second set to pull out the match 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0. Trevino, at No. 3 singles, came back from a set down to win 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

Next up for Albion is a Tuesday MIAA match at Alma College.
