Albion makes quick work of Defiance in men's tennis

ALBION, Mich. – It took Albion College a little more than two hours to dispatch Defiance College, 9-0, in a non-league men's tennis match inside the Ungrodt Tennis Center.

Albion started the match with a 2-0 lead as Defiance forfeit the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches.

The No. 2 doubles match lasted just 20 minutes as Patrick Smoker and Israel Trevino were 8-0 winners.

Nick Kinachtchouk and Josh McGarry were on court longer, but they led Albion to a sweep of the doubles matches with an 8-4 decision.

The five singles matches were all decided in straight sets. Trevino won the No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0 and Smoker was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 5.

Albion, now 4-4 on the season, will have its final tune up prior to the start of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action March 19 with a home match against Grace Bible College.
