ALBION, Mich. – The Albion College men's soccer team proved to be resilient in scoring a 3-1 victory over Bluffton (Ohio) University as it wrapped up the non-league portion of the schedule at Alumni Field Friday night.

Albion never let down its pressure despite coming up empty on 13 shots and making an error in the back that resulted in the Bluffton goal in the first half.

The Britons got on the board midway through the second half when a pass intended to put the ball in the middle of the box hit off the back of the feet of a Bluffton defender for an own goal.

While he didn't get credit for an assist, Zabith Wilson's pressure created a turnover by the Bluffton defense. Spencer Moeggenberg sent a nifty touch to Alex Sayeg for the go-ahead goal.

Sayeg finished the scoring with a rocket from 18 yards out, and it just five minutes, Albion turned the deficit into the margin of victory.

Albion dominated the box score with a 23-4 edge in shots. Forwards Sayeg and Jason Warras were credited with five shots apiece.

Albion, winners of four in a row to move its record to 5-4-1, will not play again until Oct. 8 when it travels to Trine University for the start of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
