Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer battles to draw with Hope

ALBION -- In an evenly-matched, hard-fought game, the Albion College women's soccer team played to a draw with Hope College, 1-1. Albion now moves to 7-2-1 overall, 2-1-1 in the conference while the Flying Dutch sit at 8-3-1, 2-1-1.

The game served as Domestic Violence Awareness Night, as both teams gathered for a group photo in matching shirts prior to the contest.

In the 22nd minute, the hosts got on the board first when Megan Loney tallied her fourth assist of the season with a feed to Rayna Edwards. Edwards, Albion's leading scorer, rifled a shot past the Hope goalkeeper for a 1-0 advantage.

Hope had a chance to find the equalizer later in the period, but Romee Natschke was clutch for the Britons, making the save and preserving the lead.

Albion held the 1-0 lead at the break.

Hope netted the equalizer in the 82nd minute, when Sarah Mikesell scored her seventh goal of the season.

The Albion back line -- Avery Kasanic, McKenna Graham, Anna Morris and Quinn Natschke -- limited the Hope opportunities, playing very well in the match.

The Flying Dutch held the edge in shots, 16-9, while both teams had four corner kicks.

Natschke (6-2-1) tallied 10 saves for Albion. Loney's fourth assist moves her into a tie for fifth place in the conference.

Albion will hit the road on Saturday, traveling to St. Mary's (7-7, 2-5). Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
