DECATUR, Ill. — 13 service aces and 12 total blocks lifted the Albion College volleyball team to a quick sweep of Westminster College (Mo.). The Britons improve to 14-6 overall after the opening night win at the Millikin 5 State Classic on Friday night.
Senior
Chloe Webber had a nine kill, six block effort in the win. Fellow middle
Jesse Hepner added five kills and five blocks for the Brits.
Libero
Jenna Khoury totaled a team-high 15 digs in the win. Both
Kaylynne Nicholson and
Ava Smith contributed seven digs for the Brits.
Setters
Mariah Brenz (15 assists) and
Grace VanDorn (nine) fished out the offense.
Albion controlled the tempo for the entire match, including building to a commanding 21-4 lead in the second set.
Kameron Haley tallied four service aces, a game-best.
The Blue Jays struggled offensively, committing 26 errors and attacking at a mere .028 clip.
Albion finishes up the two-day event tomorrow with matches against Loras and Simpson. Game times are slated for 12 and 4 p.m. EST.
