Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Season ends in semifinals for volleyball

HOLLAND, Mich. -- In the MIAA Semifinals, the Albion College volleyball team saw its season come to a close, falling to nationally ranked Calvin University on Friday night. The Britons conclude the 2021 season with a 20-7 overall record -- tied for the most wins in school history.

The Knights, ranked No. 6 in the latest AVCA poll, swept the Britons, controlling much of the match.

Despite Albion scoring the first four points of the contest, Calvin rallied back and limited Albion's offense, as the Brits swung at a .049 clip for the night. Calvin also capitalized on the Albion serve receive, recording eight service aces compared to Albion's one.

Chloe Webber led the Britons with eight kills. Mariah Brenz paced the offense with 15 assists. Defensively, Jenna Khoury led the way with 18 digs, as Ava Smith contributed 14.

The loss ends the careers of Kameron Haley, Grace VanDorn, Shelby Palmer, Hannah Miller, Ava Smith, Jenna Khoury and Chloe Webber. The seven individuals have been significant contributors to the Brits over the course of their careers.

VanDorn leaves with the most assists in Albion history, dishing out 3,125 in her career. She also leaves Albion with 1,092 digs, as she and Khoury both hit the milestone this season. Khoury leaves her legacy with 1,133 digs attached to her name. Khoury passes head coach Kristin Slamer-de St. Aubin and sirs third all-time in school history. Webber's 237 total blocks is good to land her third on the all-time list for career leaders.

The seven combine for 1,025 kills, 3,818 assists and 3,689 digs -- proving to be invaluable to the Briton lineup for the past few seasons.
