WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Unable to overcome an early deficit, the Albion College women's basketball team fell 67-55 to Otterbein University on Thursday afternoon. This was the first game in December the Brits dropped and snapped an eight game win streak.
Becca Ross tallied a career-high 19 points for the Britons. The junior drained three 3-pointers in the loss.
Lolo Reed was the only other Albion player to score in double figures, dropping 12 points while bringing down a team-high eight rebounds. At the conclusion of the game, she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Albion moves to 11-2 on the year while Otterbein improves to 8-3 overall.
The Cardinals opened the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back. Otterbein played lockdown defense on the Britons, forcing them to commit numerous turnovers. They also limited the damage by Albion's leading scorers,
Elena Welker (8 points) and
Dareonna Little (2 points).
With six rebounds,
Romee Natschke recorded a new career-high.
Cierra Cole led both teams with three steals.
On a poor shooting night,the Brits sank just under 27 percent of its shots.
Albion will host Calvin on Wednesday in the first half of a men's-women's doubleheader. Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
