Box Score ALBION -- The Albion College women's basketball team narrowly missed an upset, falling to No. 3 Trine University, 63-55. The Britons held a three point lead after one and a one point lead at the half.
Senior Rain Hinton was nearly unstoppable, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Daniah Beavers had another impressive game, scoring eight points and bringing down six boards.
Albion scored the final six points of the first quarter to lead after one. A pair of Da'Leshia Davis free throws, a jumper by Elena Welker and a layup by Beth Chick at the horn gave the Brits a 15-12 lead.
With the teams evenly battling, the Brits took a 26-25 lead into halftime.
Trine began connecting from deep in the second half to create some distance from the Britons. Heading into the final period, the Thunder held a 46-38 lead. Trine sank five of seven three pointers in the third quarter.
The lead would be enough as the Thunder held on for the win.
