No. 5 Trine too much for WBB

Box Score

ANGOLA, Ind. -- A third quarter lapse proved to be the difference in the Albion College women's basketball team's 92-55 loss to No. 5 Trine University on Saturday. At the conclusion of non-conference play, the Britons stand at 2-3.

Senior Rain Hinton led Albion with 14 points. Rebecca Ross added seven off the bench for the visitors.

Junior Amanda Larson secured a game-high eight rebounds in the loss.

A tight-knit first quarter put the Britons down one after one. Despite a small advantage by Trine, Albion was able to remain within striking distance. A layup at the buzzer from Elena Welker cut the deficit to eight points heading into halftime.

Trine used a 29-point third quarter to take a commanding lead and hold off the Brits.

The Thunder scored 26 points off 16 Albion turnovers. The Britons shot a mere 34 percent from the floor.

The Britons open MIAA action on Tuesday night when they host Alma College. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. The schedule is subject to change, and as always, we will keep you updated at gobrits.com.
