Box Score ALBION -- A two goal lead slipped away from the Albion College men's soccer team, dropping a 3-2 decision in double overtime to Olivet College. The match served as the 2021 season opener for both squads.
The Britons got on the board first with a goal in the 13th minute from junior Jason Warras. Albion extended its lead in the 34th minute when Warras found the back of the net for a second time, this one coming off a pass from Carter Peek.
Just four minutes later, the Comets cut the Albion lead to one with a goal. Albion took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Olivet kept pressuring the Albion defense, looking for the equalizer. With 28 seconds left in regulation, the Comets found their answer, burying a shot to force overtime.
Midway through the second overtime, the Comets spoiled the season opener for the Brits with the game winning goal.
The Britons outshot Olivet, 12-9. Albion also had more corner opportunities than Olivet (6-3).
Albion will be back in action on Thursday at Kalamazoo. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
