Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball takes No. 7 Hope to the wire, falls in five

ALBION -- In front of an electric crowd, the Albion College volleyball team went toe-to-toe with No. 7 Hope College. The Britons fell in a tough and highly contested five sets to the Flying Dutch on Senior Night.

Following the match, Albion honored its five seniors -- Jenna Khoury, Chloe Webber, Shelby Palmer, Ava Smith and Hannah Miller. The Britons now move to 11-5 overall, 2-1 in the conference.

Webber led the attack with 17 kills, attacking at a .469 clip. Sophomores Olivia Alexander (14 kills) and Kaylynne Nicholson (10 kills) were the only other Brits in double figure kills.

Fifth year senior Grace VanDorn dished up 45 assists. Khoury led Albion with 26 digs on the evening while VanDorn added 15. Smith (11) and Nicholson (10) also finished in double digits.

Backed by a boisterous crowd, the Britons took the opening set, 25-18 -- thanks to a .341 attacking percentage. Alexander capped off the set win with a kill.

Hope took the second set, 25-23, before Albion responded in the third set. The Britons took the third set by a 25-19 margin. Once more in the fourth, the visitors answered with a 25-23 victory, forcing a decisive fifth set.

With the momentum from the start, Hope eventually took the final set, 15-10.

Webber added eight total blocks to her conference leading tally.

The Flying Dutch committed 11 service errors in the contest, but the Britons were unable to capitalize.

The Britons will be idle until Tuesday when they host Olivet. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
