Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MBB falls in Pennsyvania

PITTSBURGH, Penn. – A halftime lead slipped away from the Albion College men's basketball team, falling to La Roche College, 76-73 on Saturday. Fred Garland led the Britons with 20 points, his second straight game with 20-plus points.

Ken Thomas registered yet another double-double, scoring 14 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. In his season debut, freshman Kameron Mayes had 12 points in the loss.

Albion ended the final five minutes of the first half on a run, giving them a 36-29 lead at the break. In that run, Garland knocked down a 3-pointer and the Britons got a pair of buckets from Thomas.

The hosts had an answer in the second half, slowly chipping away at the Albion lead. Midway through the second half, La Roche led by double digits, but the Britons worked their way back to cut the score to single digits. The deficit was too much for the Brits to overcome, as La Roche stole the home court victory.

Albion heads to a tournament at Trine University next weekend. On Friday, the Brits will face Mt. St. Joseph for a 7 p.m. game.
