Men's basketball honors seniors, falls to Alma

ALBION – On an emotional afternoon, the Albion College men's basketball team dropped an 84-57 decision to Alma College. 

Fittingly enough, Khy Winston scored a career-high 13 points in the loss. Senior Cortez Garland also contributed 13 points for the Britons. Devin Holmes was a point shy of a double double, collecting 14 rebounds while scoring nine. 

From the early goings, the Scots had all of the momentum, connecting on fadeaway jumpers. It seemed as if the Brits could not find the bottom of the basket, while Alma appeared to never miss. 

Alma was nearly unstoppable from the field, cashing in on 54 percent of their field goal attempts and 43 percent from beyond the arc. 

The Britons split the season series with the Scots after winning the previous matchup at the end of January. With one week left in the regular season, the Brits stand at 12-11 overall. 

Prior to tip, the Britons honored its senior class – Devin Holmes, Justin McAbee, MJ Barnes, Cortez Garland and the late Zach Winston, who was joined by his family and former teammates. 

Albion plays its final home game on Wednesday when they host Olivet College. Tip off is set for 6 p.m., the front half of a men's-women's doubleheader.
