Men's tennis falls in spring debut

ALBION – In their spring opener, the Albion College men's tennis team fell to a tough Greenville University squad, 7-2. The Brits had a number of close matches and tiebreakers, preparing them for the daunting MIAA slate.

At second doubles, Danny McGarry and Patrick Smoker earned an 8-5 win. The Britons went on to earn their second win of the afternoon, an 8-5 win at third doubles, courtesy of Michael Polizzi and Cecil Burkhart.

McGarry lost a tight match at second singles, falling 6-4, 7-5. Three Britons fell in tiebreakers in singles – Drake Malcolm, Polizzi and Smoker. Polizzi and Smoker took their opponents to the wire, falling in the decisive set 10-8 and 11-9.

Albion will host Concordia (MI) next Saturday, Feb. 19 as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.
