WBB season ends in heartbreaking OT fashion

ALBION – Heartbreak. 

The Albion College women's basketball team's season came to an end faster than hoped in a 78-74 overtime loss to Alma College. Daniah Beavers had a career night with 20 points off the bench, while senior and backbone of the team, Cierra Cole, played the entire 45 minutes.

Elena Welker added 15 points while Lolo Reed scored a dozen. The sophomore also brought down 12 boards for the Brits. 

In a back and forth battle for an entirety of the contest, momentum shifts came and went all night long. The contest featured eight ties and five lead changes, with no team gaining a significant advantage.

With the Brits trailing by two, Cole brought down an offensive board and found Welker. The junior drained a mid-range jumper to knot the game at 70. With 2.1 on the clock, Alma got a great look at the horn, but the layup rattled out to send the game into OT. 

Albion had a chance to tie late in overtime, but could not connect, forced to foul and see the Scots seal the game. 

The Britons conclude their season 18-8 overall.
