McAbee leads the way in win at Kzoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Five players finished in double figures, as the Albion College men's basketball team gritted out a 73-62 win over Kalamazoo College. Senior Justin McAbee was Albion's leading scorer, dropping 18 points in the win. 

Bolstered by a 4 of 6 from three performance, MJ Barnes scored 13. Fellow senior Cortez Garland tacked on 13 points as well. 

Fred Garland (12) and Devin Holmes (10) were the other Brits to score in double figures. Holmes finished a rebound shy of a double-double. 

Kalamazoo was truly able to disrupt the offensive rhythm of the Britons, as Albion struggled to find a groove. Every time the Brits found momentum, the Hornets were right there to contain the Albion lead. 

A three from Fred Garland late in the period followed by a pair of FTs by Holmes saw the visitors leading 38-32 at the half. 

Albion would go on to build their lead by as many as 10 points in the second half, but Kalamazoo found a way to cut the lead to one possession. 

With 1:29 to play, Cortez Garland stepped up in a big way, knocking down a triple and inflating the lead to seven. The lead would be enough for Albion to move back over .500. 

McAbee and Holmes dished out four assists each. 

After struggling on Tuesday, Albion was a lights-out 53 percent from three. 

On Wednesday, the Britons travel to Adrian for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
