Men's tennis handles Cairn for second straight win

HILTON HEAD, SC – For the second time in as many days, the Albion College men's tennis team found themselves on the right side of a 6-0 win. The Britons defeated Cairn University on day two of their spring trip.

At first doubles, Drake Malcolm and Brett Gurzell won their fourth straight match as a team, quickly defeating their opponents, 8-1. Danny McGarry and Patrick Smoker gritted out a tough win at second doubles, taking the match 8-7 (7-2).

Rounding out doubles play was sophomore Michael Polizzi and senior Cecil Burkhart. The duo claimed an 8-1 victory at third doubles.

Gurzell continued his hot hand at first singles, winning his match by a 6-3, 6-1 score. Malcolm also took a win in singles play, defeating his opponent, 6-2, 6-4.

Matthew Czarnecki ended the day for the Brits with a 6-0, 6-2 win.

Albion will play Capital University on Tuesday at noon. It will be their final match before their off day in South Carolina.
