Cooper fans nine at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – In the final game of the Hope series, the Albion College baseball team dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker to the Flying Dutchmen. Hope rallied for the go-ahead run in the eighth, prevailing and sweeping the season series.

Albion's offense went cold after the two runs they plated in the bottom of the first. Mark Lauro smacked an RBI single to right, driving in Zac Gray. On the play, Matt McGann came around to score on the play, as the Britons led 2-0 after the top of the first.

Hope struck for one in the first, one in the third and the deciding factor in the eighth.

Freshman Sean Cooper was solid on the bump, throwing 7.2 innings, limiting Hope to just four hits and two earned runs. He struck out nine against a potent offense.

The Britons will play a single game on Wednesday when they host Bluffton. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
