Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Natschke stellar, WSOC remains unbeaten

Romee Natschke made nine saves in goal, extending her shutout streak.

ROANOKE, Va. – Despite the rain and dreary weather, the Albion College women's soccer team pulled off a 2-0 win over the Roanoke Maroons. It marked the third consecutive clean sheet for Romee Natschke, as the Britons improved to 2-0-1 on the young season.

After the teams played a scoreless first half, Megan Loney broke a scoreless tie in the 56th minute. The senior was awarded a free kick just outside the box. It appeared the keeper was screened, and Loney's shot snuck into the lower right 90 for a 1-0 Briton lead.

Sophomore Avery Kasanic provided the Britons with an insurance goal in the 74th minute. A blocked shot bounced right back to Kasanic and she fired a one-timer past the Roanoke keeper for a 2-0 advantage.

The Maroons held the edge in shots (12-9), but Natschke remained stellar in goal, recording nine saves. Her scoreless streak is at 270 minutes this season.

Both teams were evenly matched in corner kicks with five.

Albion has a tough test tomorrow, facing Lynchburg at 12:30 p.m. The Hornets made the NCAA Tournament a season ago. The match will be played at neutral site, Roanoke.
